As many of you know, the world recession has hit SW City hard and many businesses and people have had to make adjustments to save their money and protect their families. The most well known newsprint source in SW City, the SW City Times, had to shut down their printing presses for almost a year due to not being able to meet their usual profit margins. With the announcement of the building of the Scoperta Mining facilities on the west side of SW Island and the massive number of jobs it has created, the printing presses are back up and running.
The recession is still in place in the city, but the mining facilities will surely help it come around. The May 2009 issue of the Times discusses some of the issues surrounding the recession.
Pfftt Scoperta mines aren’t hiring anyone. Relying on Nimbusian slave labor it
Sounds like the slave labor is taking some of the take by less than legal means. It should help the recession though- whoever decided to put 99% of the city financial presence in just three large conglomerates was not very smart.
I’ll be interested to see how the housing market fends in the long term. I don’t see real estate signs all over the city… yet
