SW City was founded in March 1999 as a virtual “town” by members of the Scarab Warriors gaming clan. It grew to be the largest and most active city in the Activeworlds universe, as well as a walking simulator with an expansive and detailed lore of its own.

Using Activeworlds as a construction tool, our core group of about 15 people (along with hundreds of contributors) built over 50 square miles of virtual terrain, infrastructure, and quests—all without algorithms and automation tools. That was back when we had a lot more free time!

In 2026, SW City was released on both DeltaWorlds and Virtual Paradise, furthering our goal of preserving the city for future guests. And owing to the friendships we built during the early years, most of our core friend group still hangs out together on our friends Discord server.
