New Properties Available in Rising Glen Retreat

Six new building lots have been cleared and made available near the Highridge Fjord and along the base of the mountains currently in development.  Three are marked for any level of builder, and three are marked for intermediate, skilled builders.  The lots in this area can be conveniently accessed by saying ‘^jump Shelter #2‘ in-world.  As always, you may contact SW Chris or Hyper Anthony for land in this area.

Custom lots are also available by telegramming me directly; we can work out the details depending on where you want your plot.

Couple fixes

Just a heads up that the SW City Wiki is back online after being down for about a week. And second, if you’ve been trying to play the minigames around SW City like Cards Wars, that’s been fixed too. Details are – something was broke, and then it was fixed.

Times Printing Presses Back Online

As many of you know, the world recession has hit SW City hard and many businesses and people have had to make adjustments to save their money and protect their families.  The most well known newsprint source in SW City, the SW City Times, had to shut down their printing presses for almost a year due to not being able to meet their usual profit margins. With the announcement of the building of the Scoperta Mining facilities on the west side of SW Island and the massive number of jobs it has created, the printing presses are back up and running.

The recession is still in place in the city, but the mining facilities will surely help it come around. The May 2009 issue of the Times discusses some of the issues surrounding the recession.

The Bots are Back in Town

If you noticed at all, Flint and most of the Town Square Park bots have been MIA the last couple months because SynPC’02 was acting up and kept crashing. Well, SynPC’02 is now back online and running smooth, and as a result so are the bots. Flint is back from vacation, as well as the bot that controls inworld Switter message updates.

SW City Moving to Second Life

Hello everyone,

This may be hard for some of you to hear.  After long & hard deliberations in the management forum among ourselves and extensive talks with Activeworlds, Inc., we have decided to move to Second Life.  The reasons are many, but in reality certain someones at the company who shall not be named here were not able to meet our, imho, very reasonable requests.  Since we contribute so much to the Community (actually we pretty much keep The place from going under) we asked them for A salary.  Not A living wage, mind you, but just something to keep us going during these tough economic times.  We also wanted our own world so that we could finally have Sovereignty over our city.  They were willing to talk about the world to A degree, but the cheapskates wouldn’t recognize the valuable contribution that we provide them in terms of new users who flock to see our city and play our SW Interactive game, and everybody knows that more users equals more income and that we’re the ones providing the users through our slavishly hard labor at making A great experience in Alphaworld.  In fact everybody knows that people come to aW to see only the Best, and that’s clearly SW City.

But these certain someones weren’t willing to share and are profiting off our our hard work!  Since we’re really the only community that’s propping up this place, we’ve decided to make our threats public & move, so they can see how they like it and put that in their pipe and smoke it.

It’s A sad day for all of us.  Not just for AWI, but for you, because we’re just too good for you.  You really don’t deserve all of the hard work we do for this community, and quite frankly we’re all tired of the constant bickering and complaining you people do about us, about crap on the forums, and about yourselves.  We want everyone to get along.  But clearly that is impossible, so we’re going somewhere where people do get a long, where money can be made, and where there are happy Polygonal flowers and sunshine rays and real shadows.

So long suckers!  Enjoy the vr apolcalyps! LOLoL!

Nah, just kiddin.

April Fools!

Where Are They Now?: Yeti Appointed a San Diego County Commissioner

Yeti (real name Ryan Trabuco), owner of the now retired virtual town Yeti City, has been appointed to the Alcohol & Drug Advisory Board of San Diego county in California as a commissioner.  He will be one of several people on the board whose responsibility it is to prevent drug and alcohol abuse within the county.  It’s a big step up for Ryan in his political career and we all wish him well.

You can become a fan of his on Facebook here, and follow him on Twitter here.  Be sure to follow him, because I have a feeling he’ll be making a splash in the national political scene someday.
