Well folks, this is a huge day in Activeworlds history! Build 1021 has been released with a revolutionary building command: scale. Also included in this blockbuster update is the say action, zone tagging, and two new triggers. As always, you can check up on all the other lil’ tweaks by visiting the ActiveWiki changelog. Run free, my children! It is a wonderful day to be in AW.

Lil’ tidbit: Scale seems to have a minimum limit of 0.1 and maximum of 5 right now. I’m not sure if they can be set by a world owner as I don’t see any options in the world features dialog.. they may be hardcoded. O,o
Ahhhhh, “say” was just added to the special command list in Alphaworld. aka It’s disabled.
Building Inspector: Sorry, you are not allowed to use special commands in this world.
I managed to squeak one in at SEGZ, though.

What are our thoughts on the usefulness of these commands?
Universally useful, I keep saying it should revolutionize building.
Also, Byte says that the say command should be back once some of the big crash-the-browser bugs are worked out.
New in Build 1022
4th September 2008
* Added Build Icons Size adjustment (scaleable from 5cm to 60cm) in Option/Settings/General tab.
* Fixed a potentional crashing issue with the say action command.
* Fixed an issue where build-icons were not freed from memory.
Looks like say was re-enabled in Alpha as the crash issue that Byte found is fixed. …and what are build icons? ;(
They’re those lil icons that represent zones or particle emmiters, or objects aren’t they?
Yeah. And the size limitations for scale are hard-coded right now.
Probably for legitimate reasons. However, I really hope Chrispeg made it modifiable enough so that it can easy be made into a world attribute. I figure keep it hard coded to make sure all the kinks are fixed and all issues are resolved before letting the world go all willy-nilly with it.
He posted the string of code he used. It was a pretty simple calculation that he could probably replace with variables and tie into the world attributes dialog if he wanted.
It will more than likely be a world attribute in upcoming features.. obviously with some sort of min and max cap though so you can’t set it too low (and the ob disappears completely)
But it can’t disappear completely. Just like you do with PEs, select something else and the object will go back to its original size, which you can select and then edit.
Scale command would be much better if the objects didn’t jump back to their original size
I’m still waiting on that before I can really do much of anything X_X
You will be waiting for a long time. Just get used to it like we had to when moving objects into different cells.
