Alphaworld and AWE update

A few existing objects in Alphaworld have given picture tags. See the below post for a list of objects. For AWE users, please update to build 95 to reflect these changes. Build 95 removes RWX script cleaning from the wall* objects.  You will not see picture tagging on wall objects unless you update to build 95+ (if your an AWE user, that is). AWE’s skybox references have also been removed from the installer due to the new Alphaworld sky.

Alphaworld’s New Sky

If you haven’t noticed already, Alphaworld has been sporting a new sky for the past couple days thanks to SW Comit. He has put in his own time and effort to create a new and more realistic sky, sun, clouds and stars for the world, as well as updating the mountain textures. There will be more tweaks to the sky as time goes to make it better, so keep an eye out. Thanks, Comit!

Everybody Renewed!

In a holiday promotional act for AW 5.0, AWI has just renewed all citizens across the board and sent out a mass email to the userbase, free to use AW until January 2nd. Got an old, expired friend? Be sure to let them know!

Swiki Cards: Edition 2 Update

I’m here to announce that all of Edition 2 Swiki Cards are now in-field and are obtainable. That means all 70 available Swiki cards are out there somewhere for the taking, so get out there and start hunting! Don’t believe me, look at SW Comit’s profile. Good luck!

Upcoming Server Maintenance

Due to the recent security vulnerability in the Linux kernel (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=516949) which we have seen being exploited in the wild, our host will be continuing to upgrade kernel version for the SW City server Friday night. This may affect the SW City Website and Forum, the Academy, SW City Interactive, the SWiki, and any images and sounds hosted on SWCity.net. Please note that the current Linux kernel has been patched and as such our server is still secure from any vulnerabilities, this is just a follow-up update on the kernel version. This may require a reboot but the downtime will be very minimal barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Maintenance Date: Friday, October 9, 2009

Maintenance Time: Beginning at 8:00pm EST
