You may have noticed that our RSS feed wasn’t in sync with the news on the site for a couple months. This was due to us switching to our own homegrown news management system. Finally got around to looking into how to enable the RSS feed for the new system, and it should be working now
Sweet, was wonderin’ about that.
Yep
Figuring it out = biproduct of trying to figure out how to hook my IM into all my favorite websites’ RSS feeds. Now whenever there’s a news post, I get it through my IM in the form of a regular message ^,^ Doesn’t have to be news though. Like OCR generates an RSS update whenever a new song is published. <3 @ RSS
wow, I could use that. :X How do you do that?
Oh yeah, you telegram maki yet?
yea I did.
Pretty much all major forum software outputs in RSS, unless the webmaster went and disabled it for some reason. I just had to look up some guides on how to extract exactly what I wanted (which is what I did here)…since many websites also use forum software to manage their news…
Besides that, pretty much all descent news management software (like cutenews, what we used before), also does RSS.
If your IM supports plugins, look for an RSS plugin, install it and punch the RSS urls in.
Commie… is it possible to add a who posted it?Would be most useful that
Would be most useful? why? The RSS just gives the vitals, with a link to the full thing, why would who post it be so important?
In any case, no there’s nothing I can really do about it. It’s part of the forum software.
I dunno… I just thought it’d be nice if it included who posted what. Perhaps so I knew who the news source was. I suppose that’s really more of an issue if there was a single RSS for all the news feeds about AW.
Is it possible to increase the amount of words associated per feed?
That depends on your RSS reader. My IM for example reads the entire thing.
